Mama G, Wizkid and comedy icon, AY have joined other entertainment acts as ambassadors for telecommunications company, Globacom.
Nine new ambassadors were signed on while 19 old contracts were renewed. “The signing of the 28 artistes by Glo is so far the biggest endorsement deal by any corporate organisation in Nigeria.
This is also expected to signal a huge boost to entertainment industry as the selected artistes cut across Nollywood, comedy and music industries,” said a press statement sent to Daily Trust Saturday.
The new ambassadors include Bovi Ugboma, OC Ukeje, Odunlade Adekola, Koredo Bello, Reekado Banks and Hadizah from the company Blell (Di’ja).
The 19 ambassadors whose contracts have been renewed include Nigeria’s leading music stars D’Banj, PSquare, Flavour, M.I. Wande Coal, Omawumi, Bez, Burna Boy, Ego Ogbaro, Sammie Okposo and Sani Danja.
Others are Basketmouth, Ini Edo, Funke Akindele and Helen Paul, as well as Ime Bishop Umoh, John Okafor, Chiwetalu Agu and newscaster, Bimbo Oloyede.
It is recalled that Globacom pioneered the use of musicians and Nollywood actors as brand ambassadors and influencers when it signed on the likes of Lagbaja, Osita Osadebe, Oliver de Coque and Nelly Uchendu after it launched operations in 2003, a move which other organisations have emulated.
The telecoms company said the 28 ambassadors will be unveiled at a ceremony soon.
